Fake It Till You Bake It by Jamie Wesley

Rating 3 Stars

If you’re in the mood for a drama-free fake dating romance. This just might be the book for you.

Jada Townsend-Matthew is kind of a mess. She’s always hopping from one career to the next. After another failed attempt ended in her being a social media pariah, Jada’s grandmother believes she has the solution.

Donovan Dell, the famous football player and cupcake shop owner is focused on success. The shop isn’t performing as he had hoped.

What do these two have in common? one meddling grandmother who just happens to be the owner of the Donovan plays for. Now, Jada is the cupcake shop’s newest employee and Donovan isn’t too happy about it.

This was just the cutest book. I’m giving this book 3 stars purely on the basis that I thought this book needed just a little more drama ( I never thought I’d say that haha).

Donovan is definitely book-boyfriend material in every way. Where there’s a problem Donovan is there to validate and reassure his lady. He definitely caused me to swoon.

This book is in 3rd person with dual POV. I think this style may have also contributed to my rating. It was a bit difficult to connect with the characters at times.

I did find this book to be a really cute, fun, and enjoyable read. It’s very light and it may be a little cheesy but sweet all the same.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

  1. I was nervous that this one would be more WF. I sometimes need more drama too!

  2. Did you find this one slow to start at all? That's one of the biggest comments I've heard. People say it's great after that. I was just curious since you thought it needed more drama if that was part of it.
