If you were wondering, Kennedy Ryan does put crack in her books, and I am addicted.

If you’ve read Long Shot and Block shot, Welcome. This series wouldn’t be complete without Kenan and Lotus. I can’t even begin to tell you how this book made me feel!

Lotus is used to her lifestyle. She’s wild and entirely her own woman. She’s intense and passionate about her beliefs. She’s a ride-or-die for her true family. But she has demons that have been chasing her for a while, and she has been running from them for too long.

After discovering his wife’s infidelity, Kenan is newly divorced and officially a single dad. The media storm surrounding his divorce and family has left Kenan even more closed off than before. He doesn’t want to trust another woman with his heart or with the ones he holds dear to his heart, like his daughter Simone.

Man plans, and God laughs. It turns out that Lotus and Kenan are in the same city for the summer, and neither of them seems to be able to avoid the connection that is between them.

I adored every part of this book from beginning to end. Kennedy Ryan’s writing is so poetic, and the tone is so familiar. I felt a kinship with Lotus and Kenan. I felt at home with this book, especially since the book is set in New York. Lotus’ connection with Mimi made me sad but happy. It made me think of my grandmother and the strong connection I had with her. It broke my heart but also made me so happy and grateful for the time I had with her. But that is my biggest draw to Kennedy Ryan. There’s always a message in her writing, something relatable to connect to, whether it be through experience or just the relationships she portrays. I was taken down memory lane with the mention of Ruckers and Hot Combs.

I cried from the connections I drew to my own life, I laughed along with jokes that seemed like they were made for me, and I couldn’t help but smile while I watched Kenan and Lotus fall in love and overcome their struggles.

We all want someone to love us how Kenan loves Lotus, patiently and passionately. I don’t know a single person who would disagree. Their friendship turns into this beautiful romance and just takes your breath away.
